Villa Sankara - complete description
Imagine the rhythmic sound of the waves breaking on the beach at the end of your garden. Picture a view - framed by perfect architectural symmetry - of a tranquil swimming pool, which appears to flow over a precipice onto the sands below. Towering coconut palms are reflected in the glassy surface of the pool, a coralline limestone wall is draped in pink and white bougainvillea, and the smell of the sea is carried on the breeze. Further investigation reveals a hidden lawn heralded by a water cascade, a secret large Jacuzzi with its own private wooden deck, a river at the end of the garden and, finally, the beach, those relentless waves, and a fabulous vista stretching all the way down to Bali's southernmost tip.
Villa Sankara Accommodation
This stunning five - bedroom property, located in the rural district of Canggu, is an escape from the world, yet only a short drive from the trendy shops, restaurants and nightlife of Seminyak. It is easy to find your own privileged space when staying at Villa Sankara with families and groups of friends - two of the bedroom suites are set within private walled compounds - but you will always be within the sound of the sea. Three separate garden areas offer spaces to chill and relax, or for the kids to play ball games, while a timber - floored mezzanine and two upstairs bedrooms, complete with spacious balconies, are blessed with extraordinary views.From a secure car park, a traditional Balinese doorway welcomes guests to the villa. At the bottom of a flight of steps is a pair of private enclosed stand-alone suites, each with a private entrance and courtyard garden surrounded by high walls. The Jacuzzi Suite is a stand alone villa of more than 100 sqm of private area and offers an opulent Balinese inspired setting. The villa offers an amazing all terrazzo bathroom with its spacious walk in dressing room for two, the lush private garden reflecting in the mirrored wall backdrop. An outdoor rain shower makes for a delightful tropical experience, whilst a water fountain drips along a lava stone wall amidst the most luxuriant garden. Step out of the bedroom directly into your 2 x 2.5m hot Jacuzzi plunge pool, or simply relax onto your outdoor sofa right beside it. A relaxed ambiance resonates through the all palimanan courtyard. The bedroom is fitted with a king size bed with a mosquito net, and air conditioning as well as ceiling fan ventilation is provided throughout the villa. The Two-Bedroom Suite is ideal for families as it presents two bedrooms (a DBL & a Twin SGL) sharing a spacious bathroom and a courtyard garden. Beyond these suites is a sheltered lawn, with a charming sitting area shaded by palms. It features private entrance, featuring an enclosed area of about 200 sqm and where a courtyard gives access to both bedrooms. The master bedroom folding window panes open onto a terrace. The room is air-conditioned and offers a king size bed with a mosquito net. A traditional Balinese door gives way to a 25 sqm bathroom that is like a sumptuous boudoir, it is decorated as if a living space : terrazzo basins in the shape of a bowl are mounted on colonial style tables, there is a beautiful armchair and a floor lamp. Curtains lengths provide a cozy atmosphere and the surrounding gardens are fitted with a natural style outdoor shower. The walk-in dressing room is very spacious. The whole villa has floor made in this beautiful brown colour terrazzo reminiscent of the beach sand colour. Ceiling fans are provided in every room. The second bedroom shares the same bathroom through its own walk-in dressing room, it is air-conditioned and is fitted with twin beds that can be pushed together for king size sleeping if required. It enjoys its own lovely private garden too.
Main Builting Two Storeys
The ground floor of the main building is open-plan, yet subtly divided into distinct rooms. There is a sitting area within the entrance hall (a lovely place to enjoy a coffee and a game of chess), and on one side facing the pool is a dining room with a table that can seat up to ten. A fully-equipped air-conditioned kitchen is linked to the dining area by a wide hatch. On the other side is a sitting room, furnished with two comfy sofas and an antique coffee table. These rooms open to the garden and sea breezes, making the most of the tropical living experience, yet doors and blinds can be closed to create a cozy ambience. Hidden around the side of the building is a high-tech, air conditioned home theatre with a large wall-mounted satellite-channel flat screen TV and DVD player, surround-sound, blackout curtains, and super comfortable built-in sofas tiered on two levels in true cinema style.
Two more air-conditioned bedrooms are located upstairs, separated by an open mezzanine with more sitting areas and mesmerizing views of the ocean. Each room has a private balcony for enjoying the scenery. All suites have their own individual characteristics, and are fitted with fantastic bathtubs and outdoor rain showers. The East Ocean Suite, 65 m2, is located at the upper level in the main building of the house. It is reached by a beautiful staircase made of wood and cement. An oversized black and white photograph of Gothard Schuh features against a very soothing blue tonality. At the left of the landing, the bedroom is air-conditioned and has a ceiling fan. A netted king size bed resides facing the ocean. A spacious balcony with comfortable plantation chairs allows enjoying the ocean view. The bathroom and dressing room are air conditioned. Both the bathtub and the shower are located on a lovely open air area the bathtub is very generous while the rain drop shower is a delight in the warm ocean breeze.
An open mezzanine stands between the East and West Ocean Suites. A traditional Balinese door takes you to your 125 sqm sanctuary. Fitted with air conditioning and ceiling fans, the West Ocean Suite offers the same large balcony and another runs along the west side all the way to the bathroom. A mosquito net floats above the bed, allowing for open air nights. Awaken in your king size bed to endless vistas of the ocean, in fact the ocean breeze is so pleasant very often you will not need the air conditioning and you will be tempted to leave the windows open to the sound of the waves. The bathroom features brown terrazzo and feels like a boudoir. A comfortable bench adjoins the bath. Free standing basins overlook the private open air balcony through a glass partition. The two round mirrors seem to be floating in the air above the basins and beautifully printed glass doors lead to the outdoor rain shower on the balcony. The outdoor shower is a delight.
A team of 14 thoughtful staff are standing by to wait upon your hand and foot. The chef's home-cooked meals are served in an open-sided dining room, while plush furnishings and comfort are the order of the day in a delightful sitting room where the garden dares to intrude indoors. You can drink cocktails at sunset in a bubbling Jacuzzi, watch movies in your own private mini cinema, and bath in a circular tub reminiscent of a coconut shell, before falling asleep in a luxurious, yielding bed - lulled by the melody of those waves.
